| About Us | Our History | Our Staff In the late 80's, Jonathan Lee traveled while expanding Genesis Enterprises, a wholesale ceramic urn company. In his travels, he could see a drastic change occurring in the funeral industry. A few large corporations at an alarming rate were buying family-owned and operated funeral homes, cemeteries, and funeral merchandise suppliers. With this change came large price increases. Once familiar faces become a continuous change in staff members, with personal service to their families at an all time low. Accompanying these changes were all too often overly aggressive pre-need sales teams. He became aware that the changes in the industry were not based just at the corporate buy-outs, but in the industry as a whole. The costs for funeral services, cemetery charges, and funeral related merchandise have in many cases become staggering. These changes have now reached the mid-west including Lincoln, Omaha, and many of their surrounding communities. In order to provide alternatives to these high costs, Aspen Mortuary became a full service funeral establishment, licensed by the State of Nebraska in February of 1998. "The opening of Aspen Mortuary has brought the opportunity for people to have a choice," states Jonathan, "We are here to provide people of Lincoln, and southeastern Nebraska with an alternative to the high costs associated with funerals and funeral services today."
